This model is available with either a tarpaulin (soft top) or a hard top, depending on the client’s requirements. Both options protect the cargo from adverse weather conditions while maintaining the versatility of top access.
Advantages of the tarpaulin (soft top):
- Greater height flexibility: ideal for cargo that exceeds the container height
- Better ventilation: promotes increased airflow inside the container
- Lower cost compared to the hard top
Advantages of the hard top:
- Enhanced protection and security against theft, impacts, or harsh weather
- Stronger structural resistance for stacking loads on top
The 40ft Open Top containers can also be customized with your preferred color, logo, and flooring type (typically bamboo), and are equipped with multiple air vents to improve airflow inside the unit.
Note: Dimensions and weights are approximate and may vary slightly depending on the production batch.

What types of goods is the Open Top container used for?
– Goods that are too high
– Goods that are very heavy and difficult to load and need to be loaded from above with a crane.
What is the best means of transport for loading the Open Top container?
The Open Top Shipping Container can be transported by ship, truck or train. Transporting an Open Top sea container by sea is usually more expensive than transporting a standard sea container because if the cargo overhangs the container, it will take up extra space and must go on top as it cannot carry another container on top of it.
When is it better to use an Open Top container with a tarpaulin or hard top?
The choice between an Open Top container with a tarpaulin closure and one with a hard top will depend on the specific needs and characteristics of the cargo to be transported. Both types of containers have advantages and disadvantages, and it is important to consider several factors when making a decision.
Open Top container with tarpaulin closure:
– Advantages:
1. Height flexibility: By not having a rigid lid, it is possible to transport goods that exceed the standard height of the container.
2. Greater ventilation: The tarpaulin closure allows better ventilation and air circulation, which can be beneficial for certain types of cargo.
3. Lower cost: a container with a tarpaulin closure is cheaper than a hard top container.
– Disadvantages:
1. lower security: tarpaulin offers less protection and security than a hard top, which can be a problem for sensitive or high value goods.
2. Top loading limitation: Because tarpaulin is not as strong as a hard top, there is a limitation on loading weight or stackable goods on top of the container.
