Categories of offshore containers according to CEN:
- Offshore cargo containers: Designed for the transport of general cargo, baskets, special containers, boxes, and racks for gas cylinders. This category also includes portable tanks for hazardous goods, which must comply with the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code.
- Offshore service containers: Customized for specific and generally temporary tasks, such as mobile laboratories, workshops, or control stations.
- Offshore waste containers: Equipped with special opening systems for the safe management and storage of waste.
These containers comply with strict regulations and specific requirements for use in extreme offshore conditions, highlighting standards such as DNV 2.7.1 and BS EN12079.
